Investing in the stock market for newbies?

Posted by Eric LeRiche | February 8, 2010 .
drpepper_43545 asked:

Help I am pretty new in investing in stocks online. I would like a little assistance. Is there an online trader that will let me:
- I do not want to make a lot of trades less than a handful a month (if that).
- What do they charge for online trades?
- Is there a monthly cost or membership cost?
- Is there a minimumum amount of stocks to buy?
I would like to start around $500 is this even possible?
Again I am new to online trading, so be gentle. Any other help/advice would be great!
